Visitors Guide to Sandpoint

1. Sandpoint Cathedral

Built over the foundations of the previous chapel which was burnt down in the Late Unpleasantness, Sandpoint Cathedral providing chapels for six deities in a communal forum: Desna, Abadar, Sarenrae, Shelyn, Gozreh and Erastil. The current high priest is Abstalar Zantus, a mild-mannered and pleasant worshipper of Desna.

2. Sandpoint Boneyard

Set in the shadow of the Sandpoint Cathedral, this expansive cemetery overlooks the Turandarok River. The boneyard is well-maintained, kept by a deformed acolyte of Sarenrae named Naffer Vosk.

3. The White Deer

This inn building is a grand affair, three stories tall with a stone first floor and wooden upper floors. A somber and quiet Shoanti man named Garridan Viskalai owns the White Deer and runs the place with the aid of his family and a few local girls.

4. The Way North

This one-story structure is a cramped and cluttered library, housing the aged but spry gnome Veznutt Parooh’s tremendous collection of maps and sea charts.

5. Jeweler

Run by the wild-haired jeweler Maver Kesk, this squat stone building is well-guarded.

6. Junker’s Edge

Garbage is routinely dumped over the edge of this cliff to gather on the beach below. The sea generally makes short work of the junk, ensuring it never piles up too high.

7. Gorvi’s Shack

A dilapidated shack home to a fat, heavily-tattooed half-orc named Gorvi, the local dungsweeper and garbage collector.

8. Sage

The sole occupant of this ancient building is a cantankerous old man named Brodert Quink, a balding expert on Varisian history and engineering.

9. Locksmith

The locksmith is run by a flamboyant dwarf named Volioker Briskalberd.

10. Sandpoint Garrison

This stone fortress serves double duty as Sandpoint’s militia barracks and its jail. The garrison is currently under the watchful eye of Sheriff Belor Hemlock. The garrison’s jailor is a heavily scarred Shoanti brute named Vachedi.

11. Sandpoint Town Hall

The Town Hall is a two-story building large enough to seat most of Sandpoint’s adults for town meetings which also functions as the town’s bank and general political offices. The mayor Kendra Deverin can often be found here.

12. Savah’s Armory

The retired mercenary Savah Bevaniky’s shop sells all manner of weapons and armor, including several masterwork items and exotic weapons.

13. Risa’s Place

Owned by the mostly-blind Varisian sorceress Risa Magravi, this tavern is nowadays run by her three children Besk, Lanalee, and Vodger.

14. Rovanky Tannery

The workaholic perfectionist Larz Rovanky runs Sandpoint’s tannery.

15. Red Dog Smithy

Red Dog Smithy is owned by a bald and powerfully muscled man named Das Korvut, a foul-mouthed man known for his fiery temper and skilled smithy abilities.

16. The Pillbug’s Pantry

The proprietor of this establishment is a short, rotund man named Aliver “Pillbug” Podiker, an accomplished herbalist, gardener and medicine-seller.

17. Bottled Solutions

The half-elf Nisk Tander runs this cluttered alchemy store.

18. Cracktooth’s Tavern

A particular favorite of patrons of the Sandpoint Theater, this taproom is owned by one Jesk “Cracktooth” Berinni.

19. House of Blue Stones

This monastery is tended by Sabyl Sorn, a worshiper of Irori, the god of self-perfection and knowledge. It possesses both a library and meditation room.

20. Sandpoint Glassworks

One of the oldest and most profitable industries in Sandpoint, the Glassworks is run by Lonjiku Kaijitsu and his family, known even in Magnimar and Korvosa for its impressive works.

21. Sandpoint Savories

A bakery owned and operated by Alma Avertin and her twin daughters Arika and Aneka.

22. The Curious Goblin

The elderly Chask Haladan maintains this bookstore, a surprisingly well-stocked and complete selection of wares despite the infrequency of many locals shopping here.

23. Sandpoint Theater

This massive playhouse features one of the most impressive theaters on this side of Varisia, financed and run entirely by the enigmatic Cyrdak Drokkus.

24. Carpenter’s Guild

Currently overseen by dwarven Guildmaster Aesrick Battlehorn.

25. Sandpoint Lumber Mill

This long building is owned by the industrious Scarnetti family, though daily operation of the mill has recently been left more and more to a penny-pinching businessman named Banny Harker and his partner Ibor Thorn.

26. General Store

Owned and operated by Ven Vinder and his family, Sandpoint’s oldest and best-stocked general store has a little bit of everything-farm equipment, weapons, tack, tools, furniture, food, and even homemade pies by Ven’s wife Solsta.

27. Turandarok Academy

Part school and part orphanage, retired adventurer Ilsoari Gandethus is this academy’s Headmaster.

28. Madame Mvashti’s House

Although from outside this appears to be an ancient, decrepit manor house with several rooms, only one person lives in this old building-ancient and mysterious Madame Niska Mvashti is a Varisian historian and seer, part of a long tradition of oracles in her family.

29. Grocer’s Hall

Run by the halfling guildmaster Olmur Danvakus, this open-air market is open most days.

30. Vernah’s Fine Clothing

Rynshinn Povalli, supposedly the most beautiful woman in the town, has owned and operated this clothing shop for the last five years, expanding it and founding a guild.

31. Wheen’s Wagons

A lanky, down-on-his-luck wheelwright named Bilivar Wheen owns this workshop.

32. Scarnetti Mill

This building is owned by the Scarnettis but managed by the constantly worried and sneezing Courrin Whesterwill. Due to mysterious recent fires, this is the only functioning mill remaining in the area.

33. The Hagfish

One of Sandpoint’s most popular taverns, the Hagfish, owned by a gregarious one-legged man named Jargie Quinn, is Sandpoint’s best bet for a good old-fashioned seafood meal.

34. Valdemar Fishmarket

Turch Sterglus, a retired fisherman with a lazy eye and a wild white beard, runs the fishmarket, though it is owned by the Valdemar family.

35. Sandpoint Market

Twice a week, this open area fills with vendors. At the start of each week, the farmer’s market radically increases the daily selection of goods available at the Grocer’s Hall, while all day at the end of the week merchants from across Varisia offer their wares.

36. Sandpoint Meat Market

A slaughterhouse and market run by the butcher (and notorious liar) Chod Bevuk.

37. The Rusty Dragon

Notable for the impressive (and quite rusty) iron dragon that looms on the building’s roof, this inn is owned and operated by the popular former adventurer Ameiko Kaijitsu.

38. Goblin Squash Stables

These stables are tended by a retired hunter named Daviren Hosk, a man known for his extreme hatred for goblins.

39. Two Knight Brewery

The mead, ale, and rum brewed here at the Two Knight Brewery is served at all taverns in Sandpoint. The place is run by retired paladin Gaven Deverin, a cousin of mayor Kendra.

40. Sandpoint Mercantile League

Within this large building one can book passage on a ship, arrange for caravans or carriages for overland travel, or send messages to folk in town or other cities. This is also the place for land, business and building inquiries. The day-to-day management is handled by Sir Jasper Korvaski.

41. Sandpoint Boutique

This large boutique and shop sells all manner of clothing, weapons, toys, artwork, books, and tools. The place is owned by Hayliss Korvaski, sister of Jasper.

42. Fatman’s Feedbag

Fatman’s Feedbag is Sandpoint’s most notorious tavern, known most for its frequent tavern brawls. The tavern is owned and operated by an enormous man named Gressel Tenniwar.

43. The Pixie’s Kitten

Run with class and grace by Kaye Tesarani, the brothel is well-kept and free from crime, despite the Scarnettis’ opposition to its existence.

44. The Feathered Serpent

This cramped and cluttered shop’s sole proprietor, Vorvashali Voon, sells various relics, statues and monument fragments, trading and updating stock weekly.

45. Hannah’s

For minor aches, pains, and illnesses, most of Sandpoint’s citizens depend on Hannah Velerin, a local herbalist, doctor, midwife and devotee of Gozreh.

46. Sandpoint Shipyard

The shipyard is owned by the Valdemars, with Belven Valdemar, old Ethram’s eldest son, overseeing the constant work here.

47. Valdemar Manor

This manor house commands a breathtaking view of the town of Sandpoint and the harbor below. The family itself remains under the patriarchal rule of old Ethram Valdemar.

48. Scarnetti Manor

The Scarnetti family, now headed by Titus, controls Sandpoint’s mills and the lumber industry. The Scarnettis are easily Sandpoint’s most traditional family.

49. Kaijitsu Manor

Lonjiku Kaijitsu heads this family, the survivors of an exiled family from Minkai sent over the crown of the world a half century ago.

50. Deverin Manor

Living within the largest manor, the Deverins have traditionally held the role of “leader” in Sandpoint, a role continued by the current mayor Kendra Deverin.
